Homemade Pirate Ship Toys

A couple of weeks ago, Violet and I went out on a Mommy-Daughter date that was SO fun.
We went to toddler story time at the library,
then we went to Chick-fil-a for lunch and shared a scrumptious peach milkshake,
and THEN we shopped around for toys at a kid’s consignment shop!

Aaaaand she picked: a pirate ship!
Literally, from the cart she exclaimed, “Oh I LIKE THAaaaaaaaT!”
…so naturally we bought it.
However, I was not a fan of the Captain Hook figurines that came with it. They looked too aggressive, you know? SO I was like.. Hmmmm, I bet I can knit something better…

And……TA-DA!! I knitted Violet this little pirate guy!!
Haha it’s so cute and kitschy and she adores him!

And I’m so tickled bc I knit the pirate without any pattern! Me! It’s a little wonky but it turned out great.

AND, I crocheted her a little kraken! I used a crochet kraken pattern by by Trish of “Genuine Mudpie” and it’s so beginner-friendly and awesome!! I loved it!
Here’s a link to the free pattern on her blog.

I used Scheepjes Stone-Washed yarns for both projects, aaaaand I am kind of obsessed with it. I was gifted one of their sampler sets from my past FibreShare partner @kneedlesandleaves – it was so fun to finally dive into them!!! The stone-washed yarn is a cotton/acrylic blend, so it is perfect for toys.

Here’s a picture of the whole FibreShare package 🙂
I use those essential oil roller bottles and homemade pouch every day!

I still haven’t decided what to make with the beautiful purple skeins. I’m thinking maybe a shawl…
